Can I recieve a refund after I have set payments to 'inactive'

I set a regular payment to "inactive" to stop the payment. The same business wish to issue a refund for one of these payments through PayPal. Will I be able to recieve the refund, even though the status is "inactive". There does not seem to be an option to reactivate.
