Refund from PayPal balance and linked bank issued.

I am collecting money for a fundraiser for our club and one of the parents sent in their payment using "product services" which charged me a fee. I immediately refunded the money asking for payment via "Friends and Family" instead. The refund was deducted from my PayPal balance and was also taken from my linked bank account as an eCheck. How do I get one of those refunds back?

Paypal no longer returns the fee you were charged when your buyer paid as part of any refund that you issue.
Paypal processes your buyers original payment and then the refund for you, the fee is for providing that service.

So as you would not have had the full amount for the refund as the fee had been deducted and is not returned then the fee element would have been deducted from your linked bank account.

Mahalo for that, but I fear my issue isn't understood. It wasn't that the fee was taken from the balance and the bank account, the entire total was taken from both.

She paid $73. After fees it came to $70.82. When I saw that's what happened I issued a refund and asked her to resend the money. She's hasn't yet because on her end the refund shows as "pending". The refund was taken from the PayPal balance AND $70.82 was taken as an eCheck from my checking account, the account linked to my PayPal.

She she's been refunded yet it's still not there. The money's been taken from my PayPal balance and is clearly gone, and it's been taken from my bank account as well and it's clearly gone. Not just the fee, the entire balance, twice over.
