buy alcohol with student card-declined

Hello,

We have a student card that is being declined to buy alcohol at a liquor store. User is well over (21)35 actually and can show ID for purchase. Can we change those limits on the card itself?

Thanks

If you are really over 21 you should not have a student account  thats your problem if you have stolen that card from a kid you will be  reported by paypal.

Student accounts can only be opened for kids  between 13 and 18 years of age. At the time of signup, whoever created the account (presumably the parent?) was required to enter the date of birth of the child who they were opening the account for. If you have someone thats 35 with a student account and a valid id it may may mean that whoever opened the account wasn't truthful about the age of the student.

In any case, if you're over 18 and want to spend money in your PayPal account, open a regual PayPal account, apply for a PayPal debit card and use that card.

Does that mean the card is automatically cancelled when the child turns 18?  My daughters won't even be out of high school yet, and I was hoping to continue allowing them to use it in college.

The user agreement says students 13 years and older. Did I miss where it says 13-18?

I asked about a "Grandma account" to set up monthly payments to my octogenarian mom, and was told a student account is ok to use for that.  You say age 13-18 only.  Which is right?

She won't likely be buying alcohol; I found this thread while looking for an answer to how to create her student account when she already has a paypal account (the site blocked me for that reason, said nothing about her being over 18).

In light of students over 18, and parents needing regular funds, perhaps paypal could create a new type of account? And allow it to coincide/overlap/merge with their prior paypal account?

Thanks,

J
