first class letter vs parcel

Why doesn't Paypal offer First class letter shipping? I often sell documents on Ebay and can't use First Class mail. You can only ship a package over 3/4" inch thick First class. I am forced to mail by other means, which messes up my Paypal accounting. Or at least. let us have an option on Delivery Confirmation. Paypal automatically adds DC to First Class. I recently had a large flat envelope held at the buyers PO, then he charged Priority Mail rate to get it out because of the DC charge.

I am so glad I came across this post -- I am just now doing my first Paypal transaction and this is driving me crazy!! I though I was doing something wrong but now I realize it's the Paypal shipping options that are the problem.

Over 90% of what I'm selling on my site are going to be shipped in Flat Rate envelopes and the stupid label interface won't even allow me that option. How frustrating. It makes absolutely no sense that sellers aren't allowed the same shipping options they're allowed everyone else.

Specifically, I do not want to require my customers to sign for delivery confirmation. That's very inconvenient for them and I can imagine all kinds of scenarios where a customer will have to wait days longer than necessary to receive my products.

What can we do about this situation?
