Hello everyone. I hope you all can help me with this. Here is my situation:
I recently came across an ad on Craigslist for renting a vacation home, so after a day of communicating with the owner, I've decided to go ahead and rent it and pay 50% of the total price + $200 refundable deposit. The payment transaction was sent through Paypal. In our e-mails, the seller has communicate that if I wish to cancel the reservation, I need to notify him in writing 3 days before our date, which is about 1 month from now. Being skeptical, after received a confirmation receipt, I decided to do a little test: inquire about the property with the same date, under a different e-mail address and identity. To my disappointment, the seller replied with the exact responses I received from my original inquiry, eventhough he already confirmed my reservation in the other e-mail. (I hope all these make sense, and you are still following me). Anyway, so I am canceling my reservation, under our "unofficial" term of agreement that it is more than 3 days before our reservation date, I should get my money back 100%. Now my question here is: If the seller refuses to refund, can I still be covered under Paypal protection?
I can provide all of our e-mail communications. Oh, and upon looking at my transaction history, the recipient is listing as "unverified", should I be concern?
Thank you all in advance.
