Thought I'd share my paypal woes with someone willing to listen and maybe advise. I made an order to MLG for 2 tickets and wished to pay by paypal. At the "review your information" stage on the paypal page, I realized I made a typo in the billing address and clicked cancel to return to MLG to change my information. Little did I know that paypal used that "review" stage to take 50 dollars from my account and placed it under temporary hold. After making my purchase with a credit card, I sent a message to MLG asking them to cancel the paypal order but I'm not sure how that's going to turn out. How can I get paypal to return the money to my balance?
Update: Not only did the hold get removed, paypal went ahead and paid MLG. I checked my MLG account page and I was not even credited an additional two tickets. Not only did paypal take my money, they made it disappear. I am angry beyond belief. I have opened up a dispute claim. I shall see where that gets me.

The same thing just happened to me. I tried calling paypal TWICE. I knew there was probably a hold on my account. Both paypal reps gave me the same answer. "There's nothing wrong with your account call Newegg". Also both reps had a very hard time communicating with me and it took me coming onto to the paypal forums to see that there is probably a hold on my account b/c I hit the back button too like Killerpuppiez. Please you guys stop outsourcing we need jobs in America. So can a paypal rep please answer how long it takes to get the hold off the account please?

EXACT same thing happened to me. Other answers include lengthy information about bank transfers, credit card company hold times, etc. But I was buying movie tickets online, using my PayPal Business Debit card, which had plenty of funds available. When the "purchase failed" due to the merchant's inability to accept online purchases, I checked my PayPal account and the funds are on temporary hold BY PAYPAL (not the merchant!) So -- why is my money on hold??
SOMEONE ANSWER - and PLEASE be able to speak fluent English.

Your money is on hold because you submitted the "payment" but the seller hasn't accepted it. Being on hold means no one has control of the money yet. If you call paypal's phone number and then speak some kind of mumbo jumbo to get the robot to transfer you to a real human, you may start straightening things out. If the seller accepts the money, let them know to issue a refund or else you may open a dispute/claim.

After the hold was removed later the same day, the transaction was completed and I had to contact the seller directly to explain the situation. I was promptly issued a refund from the seller. Paypal just has poor site design on their vendors' pages.
