Why is PayPal 'holding' my money? Please HELP!

I sell bits and pieces from time to time on eBay.

I have just sold my phone for  £170 and the seller has paid. PayPal are telling me they are 'holding' my money and I need to send the item.

In all my years with eBay and PayPal I have never seen or experienced anything like this. Can anyone help please? The last thing I wandt to do is send my phone and lose my money!

Best wishes

Claire

From the dates you have given that definately sounds like the new seller hold, read the link i posted above as it gives you all the info.

But basically you get the funds released much quicker if your tracking number proves delivery of the item to the buyer + 3 day.s

I've had this problem for the first time. I'm a private seller, not a business, & sold an item in November for £220, hardly a fortune-Paypal advise 'high value items' can have funds held. The buyers' account has been debited so I sent the item, but I've now had this money on hold for a month, despite giving a tracker number and marking as sold & dispatched, the advice I got from Paypal to speed up reciept of my funds. This is obviously how Payapl make their money- they earn a months' interest on your sales as well as their fee. I think this is unprofessional. Have tried to complain but can't get past the FAQ section. Next step trading standards I think!

Its down to how the payment was SENT to your account.

1. If your sender chose the send money > goods / services option then paypal would see you as a seller and apply the new seller hold. They would also charge you a fee.

2. If your sender had chosen the send money > family / friends option then you would have had the payment instantly.

You could try getting your sender to call customer services and authorise them to release the payment sooner as it was sent the wrong way?
