I have 2 pending payments in my account for pay after delivery items which were scheduled to be taken on 20 and 22 November, but which are still showing as pending. I spoke to a UK rep on the phone who advised it was a glitch in the system and I would in due course receive the standard email saying that the payments were going to be taken, but after several more days still nothing.
I then decided to check this board to see if anyone else had reported the same issue, but couldn't immediately see anything.
Can anyone advise if this is a general issue?
Many thanks.

Hi AndrewB,
I am sorry to hear this. Pay After Delivery (PAD) is a method of payment that we're offering to customers, where you don’t pay for your purchase until after you’ve received it.
We pay the seller immediately, so they can send you the item straight away, but we won't debit the money from your bank account until 14 days after the purchase. This gives you time to receive the item and check that it’s up to standard.
Even if you're eligible for PAD, it will only be offered for certain purchases. When it’s available you’ll see the option on the 'Review Your Information' page during checkout. There’s no charge for making a PAD payment and you’re covered by our Buyer Protection, even after we’ve debited the money.
You need a confirmed bank account to be considered eligible for PAD.
After you’ve made a Pay After Delivery payment, it automatically becomes the default way to pay when it’s available. You can switch it off at any point. Here’s how:
- Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
- Click Profile near the top of the page.
- On the left, click My money.
- Beside ‘Bank accounts’, click Update.
- Under 'Paying after delivery is my preferred way to pay', click Turn this option off.
I am happy to review your PayPal account if you can contact me through our Twitter handle @AskPayPal or alternatively from our UK Facebook page.
I hope this info helps!
Arda

Thank you for your reply, but I possibly didn't really make the situation clear. The items in question were purchased on 7 and 8 November respectively, and both were eligible for pay after delivery. The payments were then scheduled to be taken by paypal on November 20, and 22, but they have not, as yet, been taken. A further 6 days later, I have still not even received the standard notification email, advising that these payments are due to be deducted.
I have made several purchases since then. Those eligible for immediate payment have gone through OK, and those eligible for pay after delivery have been scheduled. The next deferred payment is due to be taken on 3 December.
I have used pay after delivery regularly since it was introduced, and certainly wish to continue using it, as i find it very useful, but this has never occured before. If, as I was advised it is simply a glitch in the system, it seems to be taking a while to resolve and does not seem to be affecting many people.

Just a further post to say I called customer services again, and it seems all that is required is to open your account, go to activity, click on the payment and about halfway down the page there is a link which says pay now.
Apparently however it is still a known problem which paypal are aware of, but it can be resolved if you actually prefer to pay the money rather than wait.
Thanks to customer services for your assistance.
