Issues paying via Paypal (echeque)

I bought an item a few days ago and tried to pay via paypal. My payment was said to have been "refused by the card issuer" (there was plenty of money in the account). I promptly registered another card from my other account then paid with that instead. Now the payment shows as "pending" and payment by echeque even though the money left my account days ago. The odd thing is, the money has left the account belonging to the ORIGINAL card I tried to pay with and no money has left the account  specifically registered to make the payment!!! Also I'm now being prompted to confirm the original card when I sign in even though I received the pin code in December 2013, registered it and have been constantly using it in the 11 months since then. HELP ME PLEASE!

An echeque is a payment from your bank account but it takes 5-7 days to clear through to the seller.

It is generated when you don't have a back up card linked to your paypal account or your card has expired and needs updating.
