How does receiving money on PayPal work?

I know how to recieve money but my question is if it comes from the persons bank account do i have to wait a cetain amount of days for it to be in my paypal funds?? What if it comes from the person debit card will it automatically be in my funds. I know one time someone was going to send me money but it said it would take 3 days because it was coming from their bank account!?.

When I make a payment, where does the money come from?

If you're sending a PayPal payment, we'll always use any available money in your PayPal balance to fund the payment. If you don't have enough money in your balance, we'll try to take the money from your bank account. If you haven't added a bank account to your PayPal account, we'll try to take the money from a linked card instead.

The default payment preferences are:

1. Instant balance transfer
2. Instant bank transfer (if a bank is linked)
3. Instant card payment (if a card is linked)
4. eCheque (takes 5-7 working days)

If someone sends me money with their bank account or credit card will it automatically show up in my paypal funds?

If they pay from their bank it  will shown as pending and takes 5-7 working days to clear and turns from pending to complete

By debit card if the have linked it to their ppal its instantly in your ppal acc

How long does it take to receive money?

• If the sender uses their PayPal balance, a credit or debit card or an instant bank transfer, the money will be credited to your PayPal account balance instantly.
• If the sender pays by eCheque, the money will be credited to your PayPal account after a clearing period of 5-7 working

Yes as long as they have a back up card linked to their paypal account as well then it will be instant from their bank account or card.

This is because paypal CREDIT you in advance and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer from the buyers funding source to paypal.
