I'm new to PayPal. Someone is wanting to purchase something from me and pay via PayPal. Can she then remove the money from my account once she has received the goods?

Depends on a number of things, you need to read up on seller protection and then risk assess your own transactions.

BUT red flags fly if they have asked you to open a paypal account, if you can give some more details we could see if it was an obvious scam for you.

Posted an ad for selling a sofa on gumtree. Buyer can't collect item so is sending a courier and wanting to pay via PayPal. I've never done this before and im naturally suspicious of people. Could she send me the funds. Receive the goods then remove the funds from my account?

CAN YOU GIVE ME TIME, I DON'T WORK FOR PAYPAL AND DO HAVE OTHER THINGS TO DO. i CAN'T ALWAYS ANSWER IMMEDIATELY.

This sounds like a common scam that has been ongoing for years.

Read this and see  >>>

 A TYPICAL PAYPAL SCAM.

They encourage you to use paypal and often ask you to open an account.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.

It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

If the item requires shipping they will tell you that they will pay you extra and you must pay the agent via western union / moneygram BEFORE the funds are released to you.

They are not interested in the item, they just want the western union etc funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.

Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service.

Your welcome, be very careful as lots of scams on paypal.

Also remember that paypal does not give you seller protection for items that are collected, so only have cash for those   Smiley Wink

Good luck.
