how do I run a special offer from my website using paypal?

You need to have a create a button for your website and customise it to offer discounts. 

Here is a list of options that you can add on your website for discounts.

Thanks for your reply. What I really wanted to do was to offer a discount code for all of my products - for example 20% for friends and family. I would like to give them a code to enter at checkout so paypal would then automatically take 20% from the total price of the order.

So many businesses offer these codes now and there is an option to enter a code or gift voucher at the checkout! Any more help I'd be very grateful

Hi There,

If you are using web site payments standard you can apply a discount to the whole cart by adding the code similar to <input type='hidden' name='discount_rate_cart' value='10'> for 10% discount, to the PayPal button code. However, on our site we have programmed the whole coupon checking at our end.

Thanks so much for your reply, I wonder if I could trouble your further for 'an idiots guide' to applying a discount code please? This is all way over my head.

Where exactly do you add this code on the website or through paypal? The checkout page doesn't come up as part of my website when I'm editing it. How do you code, and give out the code that a customer would enter in to the checkout to get the discount?
