How to stop multiple purchases when only one of each item available in shopping cart

Hi. I sell 2nd hand model trains through a vistaprint website and rarely have more than one of each item available. I use the paypal shopping cart option rather than a buy it now button as its quicker to list similar items in one go rather than with an induvidual buy it now button. The prblem I have is that I can't find a way to limit purchases to just one per item in the shopping cart. With the buy it now button you can put how many are available but there doesn't appear to be that option with the shopping cart. Can anyone shed any light please?

Many thanks Tim

Hey there cambstrains,

Welcome to the community!

It is possible to set up a hosting button (a button created via www.paypal.com with specific options ticked) then you can enable ‘inventory control’.

When setting up this button you have in step two the option to “track inventory, profit & loss (optional).

One of the options on this bottom of this page says “No, don't let customers buy “he item”, under the heading of “Can customers buy an item when it is sold out”.

You can read more on this here in our developers section.

And if you are wanting more information or help with this you can open a ticket with our Merchant Technical team here.

If you do this, let me know the ticket number and I’ll escalate it for you.
