E-commerce site using Paypal. why is it so slow?

My e-commerce web-site uses Paypal as its payment provider. When you select the Pay button on my site it takes at least 10 seconds to get to Paypal. Why is the Paypal site so slow in this respect, It is not my PC as I can tell my customers are bailing out at this process and it is losing me business

Does it have soem type of "loading " bar, if so some ecarts have this and it is normal.

No. it just sits there doing nothing and then eventually gets to Paypal
