Hello
I run an online store selling custom built computers, laptops etc.
We currently use Sagepay as our payment gateway and streamline run our merchant account.
We use Paypal as an alternative payment method.
Sagepay and streamline charge us every month - and because we are just starting out this is getting very expensive.
My questions are:
Would we be able to get rid of Sagepay and Streamline and only use Paypal to accept payments?
Will customers NEED to have a paypal account? or can they use their card to pay using paypal
Does Paypal need a merchant account?
Thanks very much to anyone that answers,
Adrian,
The Computer Bay Ltd.

Hi there,
Like you, I'm new here, too.
I cannot offer any advice as far as discontinuing Sage Pay etc. goes. If you pay a monthly fee, you will need to look into this and possibly speak to them. But on the PayPal side of things, this is what I have learned so far.
You can use PayPal as well as/instead of your current provider.
Depending on which option you choose, your customers will not necessarily need a PayPal account.
You do not need a separate merchant account to use PayPal.
I recommend this URL for further information (it helped me):

I hope this helps. 🙂
