Comments on the User Experience after selling several items on eBay and using PayPal
I don’t want to use eBay or PayPal to print off royal mail postage, i sell stuff occasionally as most people and it should have been an easy experience. But it wasn’t the workflow to print off an address is incredibly frustrating and I’m almost positive that I am not the only one who has found this unnecessarily cumbersome.
Firstly, the reason why I don’t print out Royal mail postage is I have no idea how much the postage will be on some items I sold several different items at one go today. I find it easier to charge a set amount like £3.95. I went to the post office and some items were more, some items less. For a casual user that’s ok, I’ll take the hit. It’s easier to do this then figure out the ins and out of measuring, weighing and printing off postage. I just wanted to print the address.
To print out an address on PayPal of the recipient is a pain.
- The text is very small. I saw no way of increase the font size or using a bolder font.
- The Addresses of People tend to put street address and towns on the same line. For example One first line of an address was “Morden close 11” when it should have been “ 11 Morden Close”. Even when I amended it on the page, when I used the button to print it reverted to the saved address. The recipient address is incredibly important. I want to make it easy for royal mail workers or computers to read and scan the address in case it disappears into the ether. The smallness of the font and the font itself makes “close” look like “dose”, Why can’t this address be bigger and in capital letters and a clearer font to avoid confusion?
- No thought has been given as how this prints off on an A4 piece of paper. If I sell something on Amazon. It’s easy to print of an address. I folder it up in half and half again and all that shows is the persons address. No email no telephone number. Just the address. Even though the other information is on the paper. It is hidden when folded. It’s easy to pop this in a clear sticky address envelope. But with PayPal it’s like having to doo origami, just to how the address details. Identity theft is on the increase! I certainly don’t want my telephone number and eBay id and mail address plastered on an address label.
- I had to cut and paste the address into word, format it, change it. again which is time-consuming and unnecessary.
After finally sending all my packages, I’ve now gone to put in the tracking Id on PayPal When I click on the link I get onto one page that says order status tracking number and delivery company. But it has no details of the product on the same page. So after selling several items ( I noted on the receipts what I sold) I have to flick back and forth through pages to make sure I don’t put in the wrong tracking code for the wrong person. Why not just put the item sold on the same page? By not doing this it just disputes the workflow and adds extra time to perform tasks that are unnecessary.
These changes seem minor, but they would be big wins for the customer, less frustration, less items going missing and an easier workflow., Time is money after all. It shouldn’t take me half an hour to do this, when I do this when selling items on Amazon and printing off and adding tracking numbers it takes 5 minutes.
