You should be charged a fee on EVERY sale you make.
It has nothing to do with the buyer paying by credit card.
You pay ebay to advertise and sell your items.
You pay paypal to process instant payments from buyers for you.....however funded.
Its 3.4% + 20p.
They are 2 separate companies so i guess their staff would not want to work for free !!!

Are you selling on a personal account? Is so then you may get away with it for a while but then paypal will limit your card funded payments.
Also you have NO seller protection if you sell on a personal account.
As for holding funds that is the new seller hold which every single seller has gone through. It is for buyer protection and helps weed out poor sellers so most of us did not mind that. As most payments are NOT held once you have met the criteria then they would not make much interest on the rest of the payments that you receive.
Up to you if you use paypal or not but as a buyer i would never send funds to a stranger without paypal buyer protection.
As a seller that means i get more buyers by accepting paypal for selling so that more than covers there fees.
