I was selling a pair of baseball boots in january 2012. The bid ended and the winner paid promptly so I posted the boots within a couple of days. I heard nothing until 6 weeks later when the buyer through paypal opened a dispute against me, saying that they have not recieved the boots. They also emailed me to ask if I sent them- so i said it was six weeks since they had been sent and queried why they hadn't contacted me before. they replied they had almost forgotten about them and that someone had hacked into ebay account and taken their password, though the issue was still that they did not recieve the boots.
I am very confused by answer and cannot see on the paypal site where I can post my side of things, within the dispute I did let ebay know but they said that it was up to papal. Anyone give me some advice here?

If the buyer did not get the item then why not just refund them? Then claim off your certificate of postage with RM to see if you can get some money back.
When it comes to a paypal dispute if you can't prove with a tracking number that the item was RECEIVED/DELIVERED to the buyer you will have to refund anyway. You can only prove the item was posted not delivered.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.
