Paying the shipper first?

I am selling my dirtbike to someone in florida. I live in Canada. I received an email from eBay and paypal saying that once i pay the shipping agent, thru western union, I will have the full amount for the dirtbike plus shipping deposited into my account.

I will not receive any money unless I pay the $700 first. I'm sure I'm being scammed, but the emails from eBay and paypal look legit

Yep........... that's a fake email and a scam.  Send it to spoof@paypal.com please.

I am seling an item , in London Ontario, and this guy that is buying it, has placed the cost of the bed, plus the shipping charges and the Western Union fees into a PayPal account. I have been notided by Pay Pal that the money is indeed there. But, I cannot get it, unitl I take $220 out of my account, cash and send a Western Union Money order to the shipper in the United Kingdom. So I wrote this GUY and said, why am I sending the money order to a agent in the UK when the bed is in London Ontario, the GUY says, the bed is going to London Ontario. Initially, I wanted the money for the bed Western Union and he said no. I was really surprised when the GUY told me to send 220 thru Western Union and I asked him about it, and he said he understood. I was at the Western Union Office  and they told me to call the Fraud Dept. at Western Union and give them the names of these two people and that if they are scammers, they will hve their names on record. I will not pay someone elses shipping. No way.  Bad feeling is a bad feeling.

Your instincts served you well - your situation sounds like another instance of advanced fee fraud.  I wouldn't pursue the sale with that person any farther either.

I am going through the very same thing myself. Put item for sale in Craig's (Montreal)  list and got an interested buyer yesterday. Same scenerio...paying full price..but shipper needs $700 ...Says the full amount plus shipping costs have been sent to my paypal account....Get an*official* looking reciept and invoice for total amount showing in my paypal account...depost pending on shipper being payed in full via Western Union..once payed and reciept is scanned, full amount will be available in my account.....Firstly, the *official* looking reciept is bogus!! PPL, just go log into your *REAL paypal and see recent activities...u will see nothing of the sort !!! These ppl are really good at copying these sites! It's the first thing I did!...Also, why in the world would a person buy something in Canada from the UK!? Doesn't make sense to me..therefore a red flag slapped me in the face lol...not to forget the fact that there was NO haggling lol...not really normal to get full price on an item, normaly ppl negociate...and finally...If it sounds to good to be true...it usually is lol.........I am sending the 2 *paypal reciepts/verifications) to paypal spoof email...it's all we can do to try to protect others and warn our fellow citizens...

I just got hit with this and gave away $1063 to a shipping company in Malaysia (Armada Group of Companies).  Now the shipping company wants another $2500 for Insurance! When I asked the buyer where the money was in my Pay Pal account they said it is pending in PayPal England. Beware and do your homework first. This was my first attempted sale on PayPal and did I learn a lesson!
