Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

Scam money request or invoice that shows in your Paypal account..
Scammers harvest email addresses and send out money requests or invoices hoping that some of those email addresses are linked to an open Paypal account.
The unsuspecting recipient is given a fake Paypal phone number in the 'notes' section added by the scammer.
If you did call that number (DO NOT) to query the transaction the scammer tells you that they need to access your computer / Paypal account to cancel that transaction for you.
They will then hack your computer or Paypal account.
Paypal never put phone numbers on emails or in money requests/invoices, they tell you to contact them via help/contact bottom of their website pages.
If there is a cancel option then cancel it, if not ignore it and it should time out at 30 days.
As long as you don't click to pay it then no money would be transferred.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Received and email from [removed] notifying me me of a payment request, subject...."You've got a money request"
The request came from:
Jose [removed]
[removed]
This is the trick to get access and steal your money.
The "Note" says "You've Sent a Payment of $599. 99 USD to Bit Defender LLC . If The Transaction is Unauthorised (sic) Contact Our Customer Support @ [Removed. Phone #s not permitted]/span>."
Of course the transaction is unauthorized. So you fall for the trick and call the number. The fraudster with a thick Indian accent reports that your Paypal account has been hacked, and directs you to a website which requires an authorization code, which he provides. He also asks if there have been any other instances of fraudulent transactions in the past 6 months. He says that because your Paypal account has been hacked the only way to cancel your account is to connect to the secure website he provides. Now your downloading software that will give the scammers direct access to your computer.
I wonder how many people just go ahead and send the money (instead of cancelling.)
QUESTION. If I cancel the request, it's going to send notification to the email address above. But what if I don't want to provide any information back to these scammers? I can't reach anyone at Paypal of course to report this fraud and the online reporting does not work for this kind of fraudulent transaction when I try to report it. See image.
Shame on you PayPal for being incapable of filtering this garbage and putting people and their finances at risk. This notification should have never landed in my inbox. It should have been detected as potentially fraudulent from the moment the request for funds was sent.
What do I do? Cancel the transaction, sending information back to this scam email address? What info. is being sent? Thanks for your help.

I received an e mail from "[removed]" saying that it had flagged a suspicious payment request on my account. I went to my account and found two payment requests which were fraudulent. I cancelled both.
How much, and what personal account information does someone need to make such a request? Do they need to know my e mail address? Anything else? Should I change the email address on my account? Anything else?

Hi, I have this invoice in paypal for 599.99 USD and billing is going to [removed]. Definitely a scam. The seller note to customer is,
"We have found some suspicious activities with your account. If you did not make this purchase please call us at toll free number [Removed. Phone #s not permitted]to cancel and claim a refund. If this is not the case you will be charged $599.99 today. Within the automated deduction of the amount, this transaction will reflect on paypal activity within 24 hours to 48 hours."
Out of paranoia i called the given number. My question is, even I called the given number, no one picked up. Is it safe or should I clean up my phone?
