Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

Scam money request or invoice that shows in your Paypal account..
Scammers harvest email addresses and send out money requests or invoices hoping that some of those email addresses are linked to an open Paypal account.
The unsuspecting recipient is given a fake Paypal phone number in the 'notes' section added by the scammer.
If you did call that number (DO NOT) to query the transaction the scammer tells you that they need to access your computer / Paypal account to cancel that transaction for you.
They will then hack your computer or Paypal account.
Paypal never put phone numbers on emails or in money requests/invoices, they tell you to contact them via help/contact bottom of their website pages.
If there is a cancel option then cancel it, if not ignore it and it should time out at 30 days.
As long as you don't click to pay it then no money would be transferred.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

THanks for that. I wonder why it's so hard to locate this in the PP website.
The funny thing is that if they'd used a phone number based in my own country I would have been tempted to call. Not that I'd ever give access to my computer to anyone, but still, it would have been an annoying waste of time.

Thank you very much! I figured it was something like this. First time in 20+ years on Paypal. Hope this is not the start of something new for me.

Why doesn't PayPal have a general setting to BLOCK ALL Money Requests??? Or perhaps to only allow money requests from known contacts?? The only option I see is to block individuals only, which is insufficient. Many others have noted the same. I keep getting and reporting on scam requests with a phone number they want me to call. These scammers keep creating new accounts again and again. If we could block all money requests, the problem would be solved for many of us. It's a simple way PayPal could assist in preventing fraud.

I'd like to report a potential fraud, spoof or unauthorized transactions on my paypal account, because I cannot do that thru Resolution Center.
I canceled a "Request received from Jenni [removed] on 13 Dec, Canceled - Request Received $299,99USD".
I don't understand how someone else than me can do that such of request.
I would lik if you can please help me to solve this problem.
I send that email to phishing@paypal.com, remove my credit card and now i dont know what to do.
