How can a one time payment turn into automatic payment by itself?

A few days ago I make a one-time payment for software by paypal direct debit from my bankaccount.

By luck I went onto my bankaccount and I saw that the same payment (same amount) was scheduled on my account every seven days for all teh weeks to come.

I cancelled the automatic payments in paypal and informed my bank. They blocked paypal direct debits and sent the issue to the fraud department.

The seller now tells me they did nothing wrong and they won't do anything. i have to take it up with paypal.

I did that and entered an entered teh dispute as a unwanted payment because there is no option in their help system that fits this issue.

I looked at the original payment request email, the invoice and the website from the seller. Nothing indicates that it was not a one-time payment.

Some questions

1) Can this happen without the seller indicating that it is an automatic weekly returning payment?

2) How can I get in touch with paypal to have this cleared.

3) what can I do if the seller keeps telling me they have nothign to do with it?

Thanks

A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product and forget to cancel. As a buyer you must agree to a billing agreement/subscription before a merchant can take a payment from your PayPal account.

If you don't notice during checkout OR don't cancel then it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting.

Check if you had a subscription set up and cancel it?
Click on the profile / settings tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments.''

Unfortunatly that is not it OR better that is what the seller claims. On the site it is clearly mentioned as a one time License:

https://dj.studio/pricing?currency=EUR

and they claim there is a problem on my side. Meanwhile they cancelled my payment and tadaa the reserverd paymenst for the next weeks disappeared on my bankaccount. So it must have been on their side.
