Do I have to send a $50 fee to receive a payment from someone?

I was selling something and the customer told me he had made the payment but for it to be verified and sent into my account I have to first send $50. When I said I don’t have $50 on card he told me to go to the shops and buy a $50 gift card instead. This didn’t make sense to me like why would they need a gift card to make a payment go through? Is this a scam?

SCAM, paypal never tell you to send money to receive money ESPECIALLY via another method than paypal.

Its a common scam, never send anything unless the payment is SHOWING in your paypal account balance.

Totally scam!!!!! I almost commit this mistake. Luckily they didn't recieve the money because the process were too slow and I cancelled inmediately in the plattform with the techincal support. Be sure to see the email direction and your name on it, paypal ALWAYS calls you by your name and their direction is "@paypal". And PayPal bussinnes doesn't need to pay. ALWAYS. Please be safe of scams
