PayPal are a scam they should be called payJoke I got scammed for £20,000 and they refuse to help me to get it back all of my savings gone they are a multi billion pound company and they are saying the £500 they sent me in a good gesture is satisfactory to make up for me losing £20,000 I have had a head injury and now that has given me a disability so this makes me vulnerable I work hard and I’m a nurse who thinks this is fair?

Oh dear, very sad but unfortunately its unfair to call paypal scammers for your mistake.

They clearly state on both app and the web that there is 0 protection for friends/family payments.

Whilst they may be sympathetic it was your decision to send the money and not theres and legally they can't help themselves to funds in another persons paypal account or funding source sent using the friends/family option as you sent a 'gift' of money.

Depends on how you were scammed, paypal doesn't cover you 100% for everything so its up to you to avoid scammers and risk assess your transactions.

Wow, asking how you were scammed (may have been able to advise) and having an alternate view means I must work for Paypal.

How original, not heard that before!

Its a shame you didn't ask on here first if you didn't understand how things worked? You haven't said how you were scammed so still hard to advise but have you reported it to action fraud UK? Also how did you send the funds? Anyway your bank or card issuer can chargeback for you or did you use paypal friends/family or another payment processor?

Well it all started with this so nasty person making out they were a girl who was interested in me and I know now it was a romance scam and she asked me for help with money I started buying her steam cards then she asked me to send her money through PayPal friends and family I tried one with with one and they told me it didn’t go through £250 so they made out that they had to go PayPal headquarters to to sort out but then they told me I needed to send more money because PayPal America needed it rounded up to be able to send it being the gullible one I did what they said then they kept asking for money for food and rent and I helped them out with money I feel so ashamed I have a disability and I’ve had a head injury so it makes me quite vulnerable to scammers I thought I was just helping someone out with there life I’ve contacted the fraud squad at my bank and they have said they can’t get it back and PayPal won’t help me get it back either I’ve lost all my life savings and it’s really messing with my mental health as well I’m a idiot for trusting someone I had never met and only spoke to once
