TomaSell.com using PayPal for Fraudulent Sales

TomaSell.com if a fraudulent website that only accepts PayPal for payments and fakes women's clothing sales and the sale of products on behalf of department store liquidation, clearance, backlog inventory, shelf pull, wholesale merchandise, wholesale clearance for chain stores and manufacturers! E.G., The Ridgid 12 Amp Corded 8 in. Tile Saw with Extended Rip R4041S here: [removed]

Their website fakes customers purchasing their items such as the one above with popups showing abbreviated user names as "Recently Purchased." After adding items to your cart and clicking Proceed to Checkout, the only option is Proceed to PayPal, whereupon PayPal presents a Donation screen with an arbitrary name of a person or company appearing as an entity to which your payment will be donated. For example, see the a cut/paste below. Notice how it mentions "Have a goog day!", a typo indicative of a scammer. TomaSell is a merchant website and a fake one at that. It's not a non-profit. It has no business accepting funds for merchandise as a donation.

PayPal is an accomplice to this type of criminal activity by not properly doing background checks of fraudulent merchants, nor performing periodic checks. PayPal also fails to provide a means by which people can make these complaints, where back in 2016, they used to (see https://www.paypal.com/tt/cshelp/article/how-can-i-make-a-formal-complaint-to-paypal-faq2016). As such, PayPal has become a vehicle for criminal activity, operates irresponsibly, and has made it impossible to file these type of complaints.

Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.

Paypal would not be able to check every individual seller / merchant / company in over 200 countries worldwide that adds paypal to their website to accept payments.

So they give some buyer and some seller protection. However that protection can never be a 100% coverall so you need to read it so you can risk assess your transactions.

They do stop bad companies from using Paypal when enough claims start rolling in.
However as they are in China (mostly) then its easy for them to just start over with a new name, so stopping them does not really do anything.

I wouldn't jump to blame China so quickly. There are plenty of criminal instituations in America. Just look at our residential moving industry.

PayPal is a vehicle for crime and they certainly don't need "group consensus" or ample complaints to do a check. They could certainly provide a means by which a single PayPal buyer can formally report fraudulent activity and where they check up on the seller, but they don't. Essentially, PayPal is endorsing crime. Any excuse is a lame excuse. In this case, it's an extremely simple verification, where it's clear that a clothing sales website does not fall under a non-profit with donation payments. I'd go so far as to say PayPal is endorsing tax evasion because allowing any for-profit organization to accept donations for payment is a crime not only on behalf of the for-profit organization, but PayPal as well. We shouldn't wonder why crime has gone rampent in this country with the likes of PayPal irresponsibility. Companies such as PayPal that take a back seat to crime deserve congressional attention and to be shut down.

Another thiing I hadn't previously mentioned about TomaSell is they list a phony email address (info at tomasell.com, another easy check for PayPal.

I'm aware you have many criminal institutions in the U.S but thankfully I am not in your country.

However whilst paypal do investigate fraudulent companies they don't do that on one complaint !! They wait until they have a pattern of complaints and then may take action, however the company (normally China based) then change name and start over.

Best we all read up on buyer protection and risk assess our own transactions, even credit cards don't give you 100% buyer protection.

I paid $58.40 and later found out that the whole thing is a scam.  Like MoneyMule posted. The different thing is I "donated" to a different person called Danielle [removed]. Stay away from it!
