Locked account/unconfirmed card funds transfer

hello everyone,

i've made the stupid mistake of making an account months before i turned 18 (thinking i can just use it when i turn 18, completely ignoring the account limitations of 500USD that i've capped from accumulating allowances), and now have my account limited, with Paypal's email to me notifying me so.

however, despite them saying i can withdraw any remaining amount in my account, they give me this error (pictured):the error messagethe error message

whenever i try to collect my balance, and going to my account tells me that im still limited

now, im aware that i myself havent confirmed my card yet (with the 10USD charge to our card and inputting the number given on the expense blah blah blah) so im wondering if thats the issue and i just need to go to my issuing bank to remove the minor lock they put on my card previously, and this problem will be solved without hiccup

but when i went to my account limitations, they tell me that my account will be locked for 180 days (till feb 8 2023) but their email - using my full legal name - tells me i can withdraw any remaining balance, and that's what made me write this post

i hope this wasn't too confusing for everyone, i hope for a speedy reply (in case its just a problem with my card i may only confirm a working solution after the 23rd since im travelling abroad)

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.
PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will need to be verified to accept funds into your balance or lift any limits.

As you would be unable to verify your account it would be permanently locked for further use.

You would never be able to use that illegally opened underage account again but once 18 Paypal may allow you to do a withdrawal of funds from that account or allow you to open a new account and transfer the funds across for you. Opening a new account is not guaranteed as you have already broken their rules once but you should get one of those options.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones when available (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

hey @kernowlass , thanks for the response!

i *am* 18 now, which is why this inability to withdraw is a little frustrating, and i've contacted their customer service via message centre to no response yet. it is also why i'm relying on returning back from abroad on the 23rd where i can lift the limits off my actual debit card so i can confirm it on paypal with the aforementioned code on the transaction thingamajig (the paypal email *did* say i can open a new account but the account limitations said i couldnt, which really confuses me)

although making a new account would be ideal, i also would not want to close this current account because of the large balance

if you have any other ideas im open to hearing it!

Hey @justhere-0

I have reviewed your messages and the best thing I can advise is getting in touch with customer service as suggested by @kernowlass, thanks @kernowlass 🙂

We would be unable to advise on withdrawal options via the PayPal Community Forum.

I understand you have sent a message via the Message Center and you are awaiting a reply. As suggested above too, I would recommend contacting us via Twitter or Facebook!

For Twitter: @AskPayPal

I hope this helps, have a nice day!
