Limited account?

Ok so, recently tried to fill out my account completely and I was emailed back saying my appeal was denied because I made the account before I was 18. The email also said that my current account would not be able to send or receive money. It also said that I would have to make a new account. Which I didn't mind. The email said "If you want to use the same financial details on your new PayPal account, please remove them from the account." Which I was ok with doing. I made the account when I was 16? But found out I had to be older to use it, so it sat dormant until a few months after turning 18. I filed out all the necessary details and everything was fine. Recently I tried to correct my account name and I got the email. I tried to do as I was told, by changing the email and such but I was told my account is now permanently limited? But that was not what the email said and because of that nothing can be changed. Can someone please explain what is happening

Paypal does not allow account holders under the age of 18.

PayPal asks for a birth date when you register so whilst you can make a PayPal account with false information the account will need to be verified to accept funds into your balance or lift any limits.

As you would be unable to verify your account it would be permanently locked for further use.

You would never be able to use that illegally opened underage account again OR remove anything from it but once 18 Paypal may allow you to open a new account.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you! My account was not verified until late 2021, everything to accept money and so on was added to the account then. I completely forgot I owned one in the first place. I am currently 19. So I'm assuming they are limiting the account because of when it was made? But I haven't gotten any confirmation that it is ok to used their site.. I'm getting mixed messages.... In the email it states I am free to make a new account as long as i remove my old information but when i open the paypal app it just outright says I'm limited. And wouldn't allow me to change my email. I didnt know that the account age would be important even if I made it when I was 16-17 since I didnt confirm my age and so on until I was 18.

Hello @Theweirdbunnyla,

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum and thanks for posting! Thank you for the response @kernowlass.

I am sorry to know that your account has been limited. I understand that you created the account when you were underage. I would highly recommend you contact our customer support team through the available contact options so that our advisors can help you accordingly. You can certainly take a look to know the information to remove the limitation from the account.

Regards,

Ayesha

I did try that, all i got was that they decided to part ways with me but won't give me a reason as to why, the only thing I have to go off of is the very first email they sent when they said I was underage when the account was created. No other reason was given....
