Information Grab by PayPal.com

What's with this nonsense of basically killing my account until I give PayPal a trove of personal information that they don't need.

I make like 5 transactions a year on PayPal, certainly not worth handing over a bunch of PI for it.

I can't even close my account without turning over this information.

This is so insidious! Any ideas?

PayPal is required by law to know more about their customer to verify that the information given at sign up is accurate since PayPal does not have the pleasure of doing business in person with you. You have to fork it over, I’m afraid. You can thank the Patriot Act and the what’s it called, The Bank Secrecy Act for that.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

I'm not a new customer, had an account for years. Funny, PayPal has not said yhis is a regulatory requirement. So it probably isn't. Regardless, I see no reason to provide information to close my account. Keeping my account open is not an option as this point, there's no value in it for me any longer.
