Hi all,

I'm trying to help a client set up an account to take political donations.

She set up the account as business > nonprofit and typed "Political Organization" for the account type.

Now PayPal wants to verify her identity and is asking for a "Certificate of Good Standing".

Can you even get a certificate of Good Standing for a political organization? It looks like she has it set up right but the documents PayPal is asking for are not documents I'm sure she has, like a utiity bill with the business address on it?

Can anyone help? The client is getting VERY frustrated!

Thanks,

Sarah B

Hi @SarahB1863

Thank you for reaching out.

If your client is being asked for documentation that they do not have and therefore cannot provide, I recommend completing any steps where the information is available and then contacting our Support Services directly to advise why the outstanding steps can't be completed.

For non-profit organisations and other legal entities, it is necessary for us to verify the information that's been provided through the provision of documents that confirm that information, however, if the document is not available, we may be able to provide alternative steps to be completed or request another document as an alternative.

You can reach out to Support by clicking 'Contact Us' at the bottom of any page on the PayPal website and choosing one of the contact methods available there.

I hope this helps,

Jack
