Hi Everyone,
I just want to confirm that PayPal has no protection for digital goods? So if you purchase PC software, receive it and use it for what you needed it for you can open a chargeback saying you don't like it you get your money back?
So this means you can get whatever software you like for free. Does this seem right, thanks?

Nobody knows? It appears the answer is Yes, you can purchase any software you like and simply charge back even months later and get it for free.

Read up on paypal seller protection so you can risk assess your transactions.

Thanks i have read it, but how do you risk assess if someone is going to purchase your software and then chargeback months later when they are finished with it and PayPal instantly gives them a full refund enabling them to use your resources for free?

Then you have to decide if paypal is the right payment processor for you as there is no paypal seller protection for virtual / digital sales.
You can of course sell them but it would be at your own risk.

OK thanks, not good news I've done many millions of dollars in sales using PayPal so they have profited quite handsomely from having me as a customer.
PayPal is allowing their customers to use their service to steal and defraud. They are advocating and allowing this theft because they have nothing in place to prevent it happening. This is a slippery slope in this day and age of service providers being liable for criminal offenses being performed using their service and they have not done anything (or enough) to prevent it occurring.
Interesting times ahead if a current chargeback for software purchased 3 months ago that the customer has used 80 times to complete their work gets their money awarded back to them by PayPal and i have to pick up the tab for PayPal assisted theft.
