Can I ask PayPal to help me with Lastminute [removed] payments?

I booked a trip for November via Lastminute.com and paid around £600 via paypal for a 2 night stay in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I am unable to travel as we have not had our booster jab which is needed as an entry requirement if the 2nd dose of the vaccine was over 270 days ago (completely my fault for not checking as I thought it was in date!!). However, I cancelled the booking via their website and it did not state anywhere the amount I would be charged to cancel. I did book non-refundable flights but as this was part of a package, it did not state how much. When contacting Lastminute.com today, they would not tell me how much my flight was costing me as it was booked as a “package deal” but said that the tickets were non refundable as well as the “travel pack” that they offer on their site which gives you discount off your booking. I asked what each of these would cost separately as I had been charged £247 for both of these things. Would PayPal be able to help me dispute this or is this just going to be a loss on my end? Thanks

Hello @Chloeannellen

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum!

PayPal offers Purchase Protection for cases of unauthorized use, non-receipt, and items significantly not as described for 180-days following the purchase date.

You mentioned that this purchase was made in November, this would, unfortunately, mean it exceeds the 180-day timeframe. I am sorry but in accordance with our PayPal User Agreement, once 180 days pass, we cannot offer Buyer Protection. Any cases made for transactions made over 180 days ago will be auto-denied and we cannot override this decision. Please keep this in mind for any future transactions.

I understand that this may be disappointing and not the answer you hoped to receive, you will need to work directly with the merchant to come to a resolution on this.

I appreciate your understanding.

Rebecca
