Paypal Sandbox connection issue


I am attempting to set up PayPal sandbox in a wordpress staging environment, but can't get past the point at which I should confirm my email address to activate my testing account. I have gone into the Developer Dashboard and added the account there but there are no notifications there that I can use to confirm it.


On previous posts, I've seen that it is recommended that my sandbox merchant id needs to be confirmed manually by PayPal, but I can't find a way to contact Paypal about it? Going through Contact Us just gets me referred back to the Community. How do I get in touch with them, or otherwise fix this?

Thank you for posting to the PayPal Sandbox Community.

There are two different ways to resolve this issue. You can reply to this post and provide the sandbox merchant id, and if we can locate the sandbox account we can manually confirm the email.

The other option is to create a sandbox account from your developer dashboard, providing the email you want to use, and the email should automatically confirm itself.

Here are the steps for creating a new sandbox account:

  • Log into the Developer Dashboard at
  • Hover over Testing Tools
  • Click on sandbox accounts
  • Click Create Account
  • Click Create next to "Do you want a more customized account" (toward the bottom)


  • Choose Business
  • Choose your Country
  • Input the email address you want to use
  • Leave everything else as the default settings
  • Click Create Account
  • Input the password
  • (Leave first and last name blank)
  • Add an amount for the PayPal Balance (You can add 50,000 if you want its virtual money)
  • Click Create Account

I tested in the Developer Dashboard, and if you create the account through the dashboard the email will be auto confirmed.
