hi, can somebody please help me. i ordered an item on ebay worth £34.99 in may. i recieved the item the next day but it didnt fit so i confirmed with the seller through ebay messages that he/she could refund it if i returned the item. i have reciept proving return. weeks ater i still havent received the refund. i messaged the seller several times, the last repsonse i had was about a week ago, when he/she said they would contact me when they went to collect the item from the post office. i messaged 3 times since then and i have no reply. i called ebay and they suggested asking paypal as the payment is through payal so i cant get help from ebay. i also found the transaction on payapal to report it this way, but it told me a dispute cannot be opened as it was not for a goods/service purchase???? i basically want my refund and dont know who to go to to get it... what should i do?

How did you pay? Surely you would be covered if you paid via Ebay checkout?

So you chose to do an off-Ebay transaction instead of using Ebay checkout and being covered by Ebay protection?
So again how did you pay??
Send money > goods / services OR send money > family / friends?

A “gift” (or personal payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance.
On the other hand, as it is a “personal” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged.
If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time. Scam sellers often ask for payment that way as they know this.
You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods.
Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you.
