I purchased an item on a (what I didn’t know was a scam) website. At the time I did not have a PayPal account, but paid the receiver to their PayPal account. Once I discovered it was a scam I created a PayPal account and linked the bank account I had paid with to my PayPal. I am trying to figure out how to get my money back. I have called my bank and they can not do anything since it was a debit card, and the receiver will not contact me back. Please help 😞

If you paid as a guest buyer and not via logging in to your paypal account then only your card issuer can help you.
BUT nothing to stop you phoning customer services and asking if they will open a claim for you, you may get lucky.
Advice is voluntary.
