Account Balance

I log onto to PayPal to have a negative balance of £2,300. My credit card has no money on it and PayPal has let me make transactions without any money. Why has this happened and how can I sort it out. Please can someone tell me the balance can be wiped because a child has done this and I’m stuck here. This should not happen and PayPal need to sort this out if I had no money then why have the transactions taken place

When you pay a seller it is never instant > paypal CREDIT the seller for you and then paypal wait for the funds to transfer from your funding source.

This is done so there is no delay in despatching any items you have bought.

So if you have no funds in that funding source paypal will put your account into negative until you pay them back again as they have already fronted the money for you to the people that were sent the money.

If it was done by a 'child' in your house etc then that is your responsibility and is considered 'friendly unauthorised transactions', as you have let them have access to your paypal account.

Even my husband does not have my password and can't access my paypal account.

You could try cancelling any orders placed with the 'sellers' and see if they will refund you and that will reduce the amount owing.

Not helpful If I’m honest. On other sites, a refund can be issued if a child has used it without your permission

Well I can only give you the facts as they stand.

Would you prefer that I said 'of course you will get a refund, no problem'.

It would not be true but happy to do so if it makes you happy.

I thought you would prefer advice on what actually happens though.

How come last time I had no money and purchases were made I never went into negative balance and the purchases were cancelled
