eBay transaction failed-3 tries later-transaction through-PayPal charged 3 times for same item

I'm not sure what failed - eBay or Paypal. Regardless, after being told that the transaction had failed due to item not available.... I was instructed to try again - twice, I emailed the buyer and they told me the item was indeed available and to try again - The third time worked a charm. Unfortunately...PayPal has charged me 3 times for the same item. 

 

On calling their help desk...What an oxymoron that is...I was told that yes indeed, my debit card was charged 3 different times - but it would take 5-7 business days until I could expect a refund. And not to my checking account - but to my PayPal account - And rather annoyingly, once my money is refunded into my PayPal account, I can expect to wait another 3-5 busines days after I transfer it all back into my checking. Making PayPals debacle even more excrutiating.

 

I don't think this is right or fair to this unsuspecting e-buyer - who in good faith only did as as they were instructed.
