YOU DIDN'T RECEIVE YOUR REFUND AUTOMATICALLY, AND NOW YOU'RE OVERDRAWN

Today I called PayPal's customer service and learned that PayPal will not automatically tranfer refunds we receive Back  to into our bank accounts.  (While I waited for this happen, my checking account overdrew.  Don't let this happen to you!)  They Will, however, automatically transfer them Back to our credit cards, though.

Customer Service couldn't tell me the reason WHY they (won't) do this, so I've sent the following letter as an email to PayPal, and will continue post it in as many places as possible.   Were You ever told about this when you Confirmed your bank account on PayPal? 

Here's the Letter:

 I would like to know the REASON that PayPal does not automatically transfer Refunds back to a Confirmed bank account, when Withdraw funds is selected as payment for a transaction.

This causes OVERDRAFTS in our Bank Accounts!!!

Yet, strangely, refunds are Automatically Transferred back to a Credit Card account.

This is flawed, and desperately needs to be resolved. 

Paypal ENCOURAGES their customers to Confirm their bank account and withdraw funds automatically.  (Even in your hold system while you are waiting for customer service on the phone!)  Yet when their customer receives a refund from a transaction that was funded with the customer's bank account, PayPal KEEPS that refund, and HOLDS it as a PayPal BALANCE  - without ever notifying the customer that they have received a refund and have a credit balance that needs to be withdrawn.

Paypal at the VERY LEAST should be sending a notification to their customer.

The user agreement spells out when the funds go for a refund.

If it wasn't done that way , then people would be giving themselve with the help of friends a "cash advance".  Thats why the credit card company's state refunds have to get credited back to the card.

When you make a purchase at a store using your credit card and late on return an item , the business will not give you cash back, they will credit the credit card.

How was it funded is paypal showing any activity ref the refund.

If you funded the payment qith a credit card the refund will go back on the card.

I bought an item on ebay using paypal. I did not use a paypal account balance or echeck, I used a creditcard to buy the item. Anyways, there was a malfunction with the item so I returned it for a full refund. The seller was more than happy to give me my refund. Since I used paypal for the process of paying for the item, the refund was sent back through there. I received an email from paypal services saying that the seller has given me the full refund. I then logged into my paypal account but I dont see any activity / history or transaction showing me that a refund has been issused. I know that the money will not be sent to my paypal account balance because I used a creditcard to buy the item. The money will have to be credited back to my creditcard. But I was just wondering why cant I see any alerts or messages on my paypal page telling me that a refund or a transaction has been made back to me? I know I used a creditcard, but I went through paypal to buy the item, so shouldnt paypal tell me that they received the refund and will be given back to my card? Am I right to ask this question or am I missing something?

And a follow up question- How long does it take for my creditcard to be credited with the refund?
