Craigslist - unsure if it's a possible scam

I listed a wedding ring for sale on craigslist and within a day received an email from a lady who is interested. She manages a wholesale business in another state and if she decides to buy it she wants to pay me using Paypal. She hasn't committed to the sale yet and asked some questions about price and wants me to email more pictures. She gave me her name and address, which I verified on dexknows.com. I have only ever used Paypal for ebay, although I know you can use it for other purposes and for selling items other ways. I'm hesitant because I know the safest way to sell on craigslist is to deal locally and in cash. But I know Paypal is secure and her story sounds legitimate. I wouldn't send anything to her until Paypal receives her payment. Has anyone ran into a similar situation and went ahead with the sale?

Basically this is no different from any other transaction.   If the buyer wants to pay by PayPal, no problem.  You can use the Invoice Tool from within your PayPal Account to send the buyer a bill.  Once you receive the funds, you can ship the item.   You can protect yourself a bit by requiring a Confirmed Address whereas the customer's shipping address must be the same as the their billing address.  The Confirmed Address is a feature you can enable within your PayPal Account Profile.

I've had the same inquiry for a ring from a lady out of state (named Mercy) wanting my paypal address and name. She also said she wanted more pix and ran a wholesale business.   I'm very wary, having had a previous scam attempt for this ring on eBay.   I'm leaning towards forgetting it...
