PayPal Express Checkout Integration Error

The integration of PayPal Express Checkout to my website appears okay; the test mode was very successful. My friend tried to make payment with his Master Card as a way of testing the live mode. It was unsuccessful, this is the message we got: 'We aren't able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please go back to merchant and try using a different payment method'. There is nothing in the log to give us a clue as to what is causing the error. Is it possible the error is from the integration or from the card owner's account. We need your kind suggestions.
