Ghost Invoice that can't be deleted

tl;dr: I have a duplicate invoice from somebody I paid last month that won't go away, produces an error page if accessed, and fully crashes the mobile app if I try to look at my bills page.

So here's a weird one that the Paypal message desk hasn't been much help with: A month ago, I did a commission with somebody and received & paid an invoice from them. Nothing unusual, except a little snafu while arranging the payment ended with me having a duplicate of the invoice in my inbox. I had already paid for and received my item, and the invoice was deleted on the seller's end, but the duplicate remains on my end. It now lingers there, eternally telling me I need to pay it.

I cannot get rid of it, which is annoying since I've already paid the bill. What REALLY bothers me is that there is absolutely no way to access the invoice. Attempting to do so leads me to an error page on the desktop and fully crashes the app when looking on mobile. The worst part of it all is that the invoice also breaks the bills page of the mobile app, meaning I can't use the app to pay invoices on the spot (which is the only reason I have the app at all).

I've attempted to ask Paypal staff to delete it in the messaging helpdesk, but all of their responses have been robotic and asked me to forward the original invoice email (which I don't have) so it can be reported as fraud. Which... It's not. And I don't dare indulge PayPal's staff on the matter because they will, in all likelihood, interfere with the seller's livelihood, and I don't want to do that under any circumstance.

Hi @Scaper12123

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum and thank you for your post!

I appreciate how concerning this must be for you. In some cases, you can cancel a received invoice.  If you are seeing an error message while attempting to open the invoice, please try an alternative browser and/or clear the cache and cookies on your web browser.

You will never be auto-charged on an invoice so you can simply ignore this and it will remain unpaid. Otherwise, the merchant should have an option to delete this invoice from their end if you reach out to them.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
