I'm about to buy something online, and b4 I checkout it says "merchant has requested an authorization for this payment" and basically says the payment amount can change. If I agree to buy something for $225 shipped. How can they charge me different?

Hi @Vogey,
Sorry if this notice has caused confusion.
When it comes to authorizations in general, all merchants have the ability to complete at least 15% above the authorized amount on the payment method. Some merchants can go up to 20% when it's related to merchants like a restaurant. This is usually to cover any cost adjustments or tips that you would give to a merchant on an authorized card. If this is an item you purchased, I wouldn't really worry about this as I've never seen it happen for something like that.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Drew
