Error while trying to change Payment Method

Hi all,
I got a mail from Paypal stating one of my payments failed because I had not enough money on the linked bank account. They used my balance, which is now negative. I did not understand at first, but noticed the Payment method was still linked to my old bank account. I discovered that some other things were still linked to the old account too. I added my new one months ago since I do not use my old bank account anymore.
I went into Settings > Automatic Payments because I wanted to change it. I saw there's an option to edit the Payment method, and clicked on it so I could change it to my new bank account. Now here's the problem: I get an error every single time. 'An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.' I kept trying, but no success. I remember trying the same a few months ago, and had the same problem. I forgot about it though, since it was something that wasn't monthly.
I sent a mail to PayPal, but received a standard response that doesn't help me at all. Is there someone here who can help me? Give me a tip? Is it even possible to change the Payment method to my new bank account (since I never got further than the error)?
Thanks in advance!
