eCheck cancelled

A friend in the US has twice tried to send money to my PayPal account via an eCheck. On both occasions it was Pending status for 5 days and then shows as cancelled. Neither of us cancelled the transaction and neither of us received notification that this had happened. I only knew because I checked my PayPal account to see if it had cleared. Why would this happen and how can we fix it?

Hi @Karasidebyside,

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

If an eCheck your friend sent isn't processed from their bank account, we send an email to the primary email address associated with the sender's PayPal account. If there are not enough funds in their bank account to cover the amount of their eCheck, their eCheck would be cancelled. If you would like a faster way to pay, I recommend using Instant Bank Transfer. To send instant bank transfers, your friend would need to have a verified bank account and a credit or debit card attached as a back-up payment method.

I hope this helps,

Intars

Thanks Intars, it is helpful to understand the process. My friend checked with her bank and PayPal didn’t try to withdraw the money. What is strange is that she has sent money multiple times before and it has never shown up as an e-check always as a straight transfer from her account. She has a bank account linked to her PayPal account and nothing has changed since the last time she sent money

The only thing I can think of to suggest is that she deletes and resets up her PayPal bank account link to see if it is some kind of random glitch.
