How long should it take for a refund to be credited to a personal account from a "merchant" in Asia?

A merchant from Asia has indicated that it will take from 2 weeks to 2 months for me to receive a refund resulting from a transaction wherein they sent an incorrect item, and I subsequently requested a refund. This seems like an inordinately long time, given that electronic transfers, etc. can be effected in short order. Does anyone have any experience with refunds from international transactions and how long the process should actually take? Since this particular situation has been going on for almost 3 months, I think the merchant is just trying to "run out the clock" on the time allowed to dispute a transaction. Thanks
