How long does it take for a payment to clear?

Hi,

Can anyone explain how long it takes for a payment to reach my PayPal account? Someone paid a sum of money into my account last Tuesday and there is still no sign of it in my PayPal account. It was sent to my correct PayPal account/address etc as I've seen their transaction, so why have I still not received it?
There's no way of seeing "pending" or "clearing" funds in PayPal and nowhere in PayPal "Help section" does it explain anything. And it's been virtually impossible to speak to anyone at Paypal about this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paypal payments are more or less instant but allow a couple of hours. If non receipt then.........

1. Check the email address does not have a spelling error.

2. Have you confirmed your email address?

3. Are the funds being sent in a currency you can accept?

4. Are you sure its not a scam and you are being sent fake paypal emails?

5. Have you checked what it says next to the transaction on the senders side ie pending / unclaimed / sent / payment / completed etc?

To answer all of them. 1. It's my correct email and checked numerous times. 2. Yes my email is confirmed (uses my account for years now) 3. Yeah straightforward UK pounds (like all of my payments in/out) 4. Definitely not a scam. I've not received any emails. Spoke to friend that deposited the funds and I've saw their statement personally that it had been sent to my correct @ me address 5. Referring to (4) it has been paid and cleared. It's just not gone into my account at all. 6. PayPal just doesn't show anything pending/clearing at all either on the app/website. Cheers for your help. Guess I'll have t o keep battling trying to speak to someone from PayPal which has proven impossible!
