Cancelled purchase

I made a purchase and cancelled the purchase with the seller even before it showed up on my paypal account.  However, the payment posted (not pending) and when I tried to dispute the payment, Paypal came back and said it was an "authorized payment" and couldn't help.  I don't want the item.  I tried the resolution center and I received a message that Paypal already addressed the issue.  Do I have any recourse?

Hi @marybethhiggins ,

Hope everything is well despite of the pandemic that we are all going through right now.

We understand how you feel about this situation. It looks like the merchant did not cancel your order.

What you can do now is dispute the transaction as "item not received" instead of "unauthorized transaction".

Once you receive the item you can change the dispute reason to "significantly not as described" and we will help you get a refund.

Or you can call your card issuer or bank to check for other options.

I hope i was able to assist you on your concern. Thank you for your patience and keep safe!
