Hello, I purchased a product and went to the cart and checked out. Payment went through fine then 3 seconds later another charge went through for $10 which i did not authorize. I emailed the company and they said it was for postage, but the postage was free. So they have agreed to refund. My question is I did not authorize that extra payment how can someone take money out of my Paypal account with out me approving it. Can anyone just take money out?

Hi @Megama,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community forum!

In general, no payments can go through without your authorisation. If an amount was charged for postage costs after you made the purchase, it may be that when you were confirming the payment, you were asked to tick a box or to confirm any other additional payments. I am glad to hear that the seller refunded your payment!

For any other questions, you can contact our Customer Service. If you would like to call in, you can find the correct phone number for your country by clicking 'Help & Contact' at the bottom of the PayPal homepage and by clicking 'Contact us' and then 'Call us'.

I hope this helps!

Yes it’s great they refunded. But they firstly said it was for postage and then said it was for the item, and I was undercharged $10. There was no postage or a box to tick. My issue is how can a company take money out of my PayPal account without my password, I don’t care if I didn’t tick a box or there was extra postage or undercharged, my issue is that PayPal lets a payment go through without my password. If the company wants more money from me they can ask me and explain why and then I will authorise the payment NOT PayPal
