Accidental Preapproved Charge Made - Any Way to Cancel Before Money is Taken?

Hello. Today I made a purchase from an online service accidentally. They were advertising a $2 monthly fee for their service, but I had also heard from some people that they actually charge a full $99 right away. I was unsure, so I went to checkout with PayPal in hopes that PayPal would ask me to confirm the amount before I allowed the purchase (as it has in the past), but it actually ended up approving the purchase anyway. This established a preapproved payment plan with the service, and the amount was for $99. Although the service is indeed worth the money, I certainly do not have $99 to throw at it right now. I was under the assumption that it would be a $2 monthly payment.

Now, there's been no actual charge yet, thankfully. There's just a preapproved payment on my Summary. So I'm wondering if I cancel the preapproved payment, will this prevent them from taking any money out at all, or would is it too late to stop this payment (and canceling will just prevent future payments)? I have an email at the ready asking for a refund, but I thought I would ask here before sending that out, since there's been no actual charge to my bank.

Any and all help will be appreciated.
