Paypal credit taking payments it isn't authorised to do

hi so I opened a PayPal credit account last month to make a large purchase for my home. i had planned to clear the amount within the first 2 months to ensure i didn't incur interest.

i noticed that last month my ebay account invoiced me for an item i had sold on ebay , this amount was £1.57 so not much but instead of going from my preferred payment option on PayPal- PayPal applied it to my credit account! i tried to contact them through phone , email and chat with no response at all.

the large item i had previously bought was refunded in full due to it being unsuitable. when the seller refunded me it came off the credit account leaving me with a balance of funds (this is the payments i had already made towards the account) . this money belongs to me as i no longer have anything owing on that account, but PayPal credit are not transferring this money back to me. i don't know why? yet again i have had no success in contacting them.

I'm finding them to be a 'not great customer care' company.

what is now worse is this morning i noticed that my invoice from ebay has now again gone onto the credit account rather than my preferred payment option.

its like PayPal credit are seeking payments to this credit account without me giving authorisation to do so.

If you do not spend the entire refund that is on your PayPal Credit, after a couple of billing periods, PayPal Credit will issue a refund on the remaining credit and mail you a paper check. This is credit industry standard procedure. No need to do anything.

To stop eBay from billing your PayPal Credit, you'll need to update the payment settings for eBay in the automatic payment settings or just cancel it to set it up again by paying your eBay invoice choosing a different funding source during payment process:

Go to Account Settings (gear icon) > Payments > Manage Automatic Payments

Select eBay on left, click Pencil Icon or Cancel on the right.

Keep in mind that Preferred Payment Method setting on the Wallet page is separate from and do not control the Automatic Payment/Billing agreement settings.

Due to Covid-19 responses will be taking longer.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

The payment preferences have already been changed and I’ve done that already but it keeps reverting back to Paypal credit

Also it isn’t credit industry standard in the UK to hold funds for 2 billing months after a balance has been cleared in full.
