Most of the time you would have to miss 4-6 payments before a crediting/banking entity would send you to collections.
I would suggest setting up your account to use the "autopay" feature. This would allow you to choose to have an automatic payment made on the due date of your bill for the minimum amount due (or you can choose balance due if you're comfortable with that). This prevents missed payments. However, it does not prevent interest incursion should you not pay off the total balance due.
